What else do you need to know to take a cheap trip to Uzbekistan?

Even if you have traveled the world over and think, you know it all, before you leave us, read on and discover essential information for an easy, safe and low-cost trip around Uzbekistan.

Parus - Uzbekistan trip advisor
Parus is an Internet trip advisor with wide experience in cheap, low-cost and unrestricted traveling. There are many experienced Travel specialists in Uzbekistan, but Parus the only one of its kind.

Visa
Everyone, who takes a trip to Uzbekistan must receive visa for entry to Uzbekistan before arrival, whether by plane, train, bus, car or camel. You will be refused entry without a visa. The only exception is if you are arriving from a country that does not have an Uzbek embassy or consulate. In this case, if you follow the correct procedure for obtaining a visa (apply before arrival and receive an invitation), you may receive a visa at the Tashkent Airport. To obtain tourist visa foreign nationals of the most countries need visa support from a local travel agency. Refer to my Visa  page for more information or send me an e-mail.

What should include a fair and vital service for your trip?

As I believe cheap minimal service for individuals should include:
- Visa support;
- Making arrangements for accommodation;
- Meeting at the airport;
- Making arrangements for a transfer to a place of stay;
- Consulting and supporting onward your trip.

My desire is for you to have freedom to explore Uzbekistan. I provide you with all necessary information to meet your desires whether it is a planned tour of the country or freedom to explore on your own.

Useful information: If you stay in Uzbekistan less than 72 hours, you do not have to be registered and may rent a budget private accommodation like the one I have. More >>>

Useful information: If you have a business visa, you also may rent a budget private accommodation, like the one I have, with the legal registration. More >>>

Hotels for your trip

Today in Uzbekistan there are many big hotels, convenient B&Bs and low-cost private inns where you can stay while in Uzbekistan. All places of stay include necessary registration. Click 'Hotels' to get a list of hotels recommended.

Useful information: Pagetour, I cooperate with, includes IT Marketing system for a booking of accommodation at the hotel's prices. It gives all rates of accommodation without commission. Using Pagetour Booking System, you have a honest opportunity to control the cost of your low-cost trip to Uzbekistan. Money to spare needs good care, does it not?

Registration during a trip

Registration is essential and unavoidable. To enjoy your stay, follow the rules and make sure you are registered.

The general rule is you must be registered within 72 hours of entering the country. Every tourist as a rule must be registered at some hotel. You may not stay in someone's house without registration, as this is illegal. If caught you will cause yourself difficulties as well as those you have stayed with, unless you manage to stay with an OVVIG (Office of Visas and Registration) official. In that case, have a great time!

If you have a private visa you must register at the local OVVIG, and the registration must be done in the home of the person you are visiting.

If you obtained a business visa and you prefer to stay in rented private house, it is allowed. However you must register at the local OVVIG. The local host company usually takes care of all the details.

Useful information: If you have a business visa, you also may rent a budget private accommodation, like the one I have, with the legal registration. More >>>

Useful information: Even if you do not need visa support for entry, if you have private visa, multiple entry visa, moved to other place of stay and so on, you must be registered or re-registered. We can assist you in it. Apply for information via e-mail or, you can put a question to my Internet forum.

Accessibility of the country

Most trips involves entering and leaving Uzbekistan through Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan. The city is serviced by an international airport, a domestic airport, two Vokzals (train stations), and numerous bus stations. Tashkent is serviced by Uzbekistan Airways, British Airways, Asiana Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Transaero, Aeroflot, and so on. Consult each airline for schedules.

There are more airports of Uzbekistan, which have international status. Those airports are of Samarkand, Bukhara and Urgench. Besides local flights and regular international flights (not numerous), the charter flights on demand of local and foreign tourist agencies fly in/out of those airports.

You can book all international and domestic flights of Uzbekistan Airways, which start from Tashkent. Apply for information via e-mail or, you can put a question to my Internet forum.

Uzbekistan Customs Control

When entering the country you must fill out two customs declaration forms. The customs officer will keep one, the second you must keep and present at customs when leaving the country. Do not lose this form. You are required to declare your currency when entering and leaving the country.

- You may bring in unlimited of cash.
- If you leave the country with more cash than you have brought in, you must have a receipt that proves you withdrew money from a bank.

Be aware though that occasionally visitors are required to show their cash to a customs officer. (And on a side note, we have nothing to do with these rules, which often change, but please feel free to ask any clarifying questions). Customs officers are also looking for these items when you leave the country: metal items (swords, samovars and works of art), paintings, carpets, and other objects of value. No antiques may be taken out of the country. If you buy something that is new, you will have no problems, especially if you request a "spravka," or document showing that your item is new. This especially goes for carpets. Videocassettes are also illegal to take out of Uzbekistan without prior approval from the Ministry of Culture.

Money

Local currency is Uzbek "Som". US Dollars are preferable and all bills must be relatively new, and without blemish: no tears or marks.

Safety of your trip

Uzbekistan is probably the most organized and safest of all the former Soviet Republics. There are police on every corner, every station, every bus stop, every bazaar, and every traffic light, almost everywhere. The police structure is alive and well and for good reason. Anti government activity and Islamic fundamentalism have resulted in stricter controls. You have little to fear from most people. Women travelers should not walk around alone at night but it is safe to walk the streets in groups. You will perhaps be questioned by police late at night but they are generally not out to harass you. Usually they are concerned that if something happens to you, they themselves will be reprimanded and punished. As in most countries, a little friendliness and generosity by yourself will go a long way to making your stay enjoyable.

Health

Bring your personal basic health supplies with you - medicines and vitamins. However, most medicines are available over the counter at local pharmacies called "Dorixona" (Uzbek) or "Apteka" (Russian). There is an International Clinic run by the United Nations in Tashkent. It is advisable to include evacuation insurance with your trip insurance as if something serious happens to you it could cost USD 30,000 to get you to a hospital in Europe.

Only one of its kind.
