of West Central Asia. Khiva gives an excellent idea of what other cities of
Central Asia may have been like before.
Khiva - Walls & Gates
Approx.10-meter-high clay wall surrounds the inner city of Ichan Kala. The wall
made of adobe bricks. Rampart is thought to date from fifth century. Khiva once
had an outer rampart, Dishan Kala.

area. Most visitors enter the old town through the West Gate Ata-Darvaza.
